Summer 2008 Weekly Rates: Prices from £425 starting in June.
Located in the pretty seaside village of Gardenstown close to the beach with seaviews, harbour and pub. Mitchell's Cottage has just been refurbished and modernised to be a welcoming home-from-home. It has the quirky charm of a traditional fisherman's cottage with a real open fire in the living room, together with a high standard of accommodation for up to 5 people in three bedrooms.
Mitchell's Cottage is in a quiet location and has sea views from two of the bedrooms. The village nestles below red sandstone cliffs and has a cosy and romantic, but yet family feel to it.
Mitchell's Cottage's sleeps 5 people in three bedrooms - two king size beds and one single room. It has a new kitchen and new modern bathroom with shower, and there is a separate shower room on the ground floor.
The cottage has a television, dvd player and ipod dock. The newly-refurbished kitchen has all-new dishwasher, washing machine, Bosch tumble drier, Cannon cooker, microwave and fridge-freezer. Bedlinen and towels are included. All cotton bedlinen apart from the twin beds. The bedlinen and towels are washed in dermatologically-tested non-biological washing powder. We've also used green-friendly long-life lightbulbs and recycled toilet paper. All appliances are A energy rated with the exception of the tumble drier. Free welcome pack which includes coal, firelighters, tea, coffee, and bottle of wine.
The local pub the Garden Arms is 100 yards away from the front door and has a roaring fire, no music and no mobile phone reception so is the perfect place to get to know the locals. It also does great food at the weekend. There are gorgeous walks around the village or simply stay at home with a dram in front of the open traditional fire.
Gardenstown, or Gamrie (pronounced Game-rie) has rows of prettily-painted traditional fishermen's cottages, and the coast enjoys some of the best weather in Scotland - dry and sunny and does not suffer from midges!
What to do: walks, golf - Cruden Bay, Royal Aberdeen plus a host of other fine mostly links courses; castle country and the castle trail; whisky country and distillery tours; boat trips; birdwatching; fishing; artist trail; wildlife watching including dolphins and whales, stone circles, or a big fat nothing! Stay inside - whisky by the fire, read books, watch dvds, have a bath and enjoy relaxing.......
